An intersting conversation
Let me share with u an interesting conversation I had last sunday. =)
Characters:
Nathaniel, 3 yrs old, or more affectionaltely known as nat nat
Faith, 4 years old
Mishael, 4 years old. Nat, Faith & Mishael are all cousins.
And lastly Jeadah, 4 yrs old. (He & Mishael are good friends. 2 of them have e same frequency.. & equally naughty. lol)
Setting: The children's programme during the OAR at crystal. I sat at a table with those 4 kids during e craft time.
Ok so e children start doing their craft work, which is basically colouring a picture.
Mishael sings: Blah blah blah blah blah blah
(meaning I cannot understand what he's singing)
Me: Mishael what song are u singing?
Jaedah goes: Mishael is singing the Barney song! (you see I told u e 2 of them have e same frequency...)
Me: Oic e Barney song.
Faith, Nat, Mishael, Jaedah: Blah blah blah blah blah blah
(Then e 4 kids starts singing e barney song in words I cannot understand..)
Me: No no no. E song is like this. Barney is a dinosaur from our imagination.
Faith, Nat, Mishael, Jaedah: Blah blah blah blah blah blah
(e 4 of them continue singing in their own language cos u see e lyrics get abit too cheem for their level. lol)
Nat (looks at me & smiles cheekily): Mummy is a dinosaur...
Me: Ohno how can u say ur mummy is dinosaur! I will go tell ur mummy what u say.
(And I wag my finger at him)
Jaedah (to me): Teacher you are Barney!
Me (says indignantly): No i am not Barney. Barney is a purple dinosaur. Since I'm not wearing purple, I am not Barney!
and e kids all laugh.
Faith: Then my father is Barney. Cos he always wear purple colour so he is barney.
Diaos. haha. So basically, I had quite an enjoyable time with e kids. hahaha =)

the way lecturers should be...
I have a module this sem which is taught by more than 1 lecturer, and starting this week a Japanese professor took over. His name is Narasaka & he's quite reputable in e chemistry field, even got nominated for a nobel prize before.
Anw he has a typical kind of grandfatherly look, & I feel he is genuinely a very nice person. But sitting for his lectures is super stressful.
In his first lecture, he started it off by taking out his handphone & telling us to switch off or make our hps to silent. Then he said that his lectures will always start at 940 instead of e normal 930, but after 940 if we're late, don't come in at all cos he thinks its extremely rude to walk in late.
And also we have a quiz every lecture. So for eg today's quiz he gave us like 5 mins to ans e qns. Then after that he gave us like 1 min to hand in our ans. Then he immediately started gg thru e answers with us. So obviously some ppl couldn't finish in time & only handed in halfway while he was gg thru e answers to e quiz. Then he just shot a fierce look at that person and said "Don't need to hand in". And so there was some awkward silence, then I think Narasaka sort of relented & smiled & said "Ok u just give me"
There was also another case when another professor was lecturing & Narasaka sat in. Then some students were talking & so Narasaka went up to them n said softly "You get out"
Ok some ppl may find him fierce or even unreasonable. But I respect him alot. I guess coming from Japan, & being a old fashioned Japanese teacher, he emphasises alot on manners. But then this is e way it should be ba.
I think generally among Singaporean university students we don't treat our professors with much respect. Especially in my course. The common mindset is like the lecturers are at our mercy. If they teach lousily or don't put effort into helping us, we can just complain against them & there goes their teaching career. Technically its true la, cos we pay thousands for school fees. But then again, these lecturers are the knowlegeable beings & their status is still ultimately above us.
Nowadays, it doesn't feel like there is a teacher-student hierachy relationship, its more like a "I scratch ur back, u scratch mine" kind of thing.
In any case, I'm thankful there are still lecturers like Narasaka around. =) Sitting for his lectures really makes me feel like I'm a year 4 uni student. haha

Oh my I think its been quite a while since I've blogged. haha I know I'm a very inefficient blogger but blogging is so time consuming... I'm starting to think twitter is a better idea. haha but I have yet to set up a twitter profile. Anw took alot of photos since a long time ago... Now going to put everything up!!! haha.
let me start from the most recent... yesterday's fellowship: We had a picnic at e esplanade rooftop.
Yeah it was a fun picnic with great scenery! And we didn't have to take a cab there & back (unlike e picnic at marina barrage I had e week before.) haha i shall explain later...
ok the next most recent.. SHAPE run on sunday.
I signed up for the 10km run with evelyn, while evonne signed up for e 5km run. But in e end, cos I got sick e week before & didn't train for like 3 weeks, I swopped with evonne. So I ran 5km instead. Alone =( But anw I finished in 39 mins! haha i was feeling quite proud of my timing, considering I didn't train for run.. Then soon later I met evelyn who completed her 10km run in 59 mins. tsktsk. haha but the whole run was fun! And e goodie bag was shiok! haha.
Before the run started. You can tell how early it is on that sunday morning cos its still dark! The runoff was at 730am.
After we both finished our run & was queuing up for eve's goodies bag & waiting for evonne to finish. I'm showing off e goodie bag as I already got mine since I finished early..
Like a typical auntie I went to claim our free vitagen & yoghurt. I helped my sisters & evonne's friend take. So altogether I managed to take 5 sets. muahaha. The trick was.. I went back into e queue a few times. muahaha
See there were alot of women at e run!
Evonne ran with her friend, on e right.. & Amy 2nd from right we bumped into her.
Yeah I like this photo =) There's still a little bit of wind effect. hahaha

By the time we reached there, it was already dark.. so couldn't see what we were eating. haha. And we had to take a cab there & back. lol. But the place is really very nice la. and I think we're planning another trip here. And we're definitely going there beofre e sun sets. and before e shuttle bus stops. haha

Cos that night I had to work the midnight shift at the airport. So I needed to be in airport by 11pm. And I initally planned to go home from marina barrage, bathe & then go airport. But in e end, cos e marina barrage was SO ULU, I didn't have time & I had to go straight to the airport. So that day I didn't bathe for more than 24 hours. gross la. Had to borrow jasmine's jacket & wear slippers to work! haha.
But that night I worked at terminal 3. And e place was so comfortable I didn't really feel that dirty. haha I took a nap in e super comfortable chair & tried out e OTO leg massage. kekeke.
And this brings me to talk about my job at the airport. This job was an event for departing passengers for e month of july. Its a super easy job as we just have to mend e jackpot machine which is basically a lucky draw la. I actually liked the job alot cos its super slack & we get to work inside transit. So I got to meet alot of passengers from all over e world =)
The best thing about this job was all e colleagues I met. haha cos everybody was around the same age & there were alot of.. hmm let me say interesting people. So in the 2 weeks I worked, there was already so many gossips flying around. hahaha. I love it. lol.
So i was actually sad to quit my job so early. But if I didn't quit, I won't have e luxury of sitting here & typing this blog entry already. The job was so freaking taxing.. They made us work 6 days a week, & e 1 day off wasn't really counted also lor. coz that 1 day off is e day after our midnight shift. So I will reach home at around 830am, then sleep until the afternoon. So its almost e whole day gone. lol.
Anw this was when I did a midnight shift with Joan. haha.
hahahaha.
And finally I'm getting to the end of this LONG entry. haha I would appreciate if you bothered to read until here =) This is prawning for TUF fellowship. THis was like weeks & weeks ago. haha.
The wormish bait... gross la.

Those 8 days
I've never went for any invigilation that was as fun as e most recent ACCA invigilation. =)
Firstly the SAPE, e head invigilator in charge of our hall, was a super nice guy. He is nice until e extent that, even though I was late on all e 8 days, and he noticed that I always come late, on e last day he actually didn't scold me but laughed off the fact that I never once came early. haha.
Secondly, alot of the invigilators there were around my age & they were all super friendly & fun. Initially I was quite worried I'll be bored to death in these 8 days coz I didn't go with any friends. And I prayed that I'll meet at least one person who can accompany me through e 8 days. But God definitely granted me more that what I asked for. haha =)

And on the last day we even went for a ktv outing. haha.

nuts about you
This is the sample copy of the craft the kids will be making this sunday. Its quite cheesy right? haha.
And I don't want to be in charge of anymore monthly specials that has got to do with craft already. Too much hassle la. lol.

aunty-fied
I think these holidays, slacking without a job - except for my invigilation stints - has made me more aunty-fied. jialat. and here's why I say so...
1) Korean dramas
Instead of getting hooked onto e latest teen idol korean drama "Boys over Flowers" (btw I watched 5 episodes of that show then I didn't feel like watching anymore); I got hooked onto e current channel U 7pm show which I think belongs to e aunty genre of korean dramas. haha. anw, its called "Likable or not".
I think what appealed to me was e more realistic plot la, compared to e typical rich-handsome-guy-falling-for-poor-dowdy-girl kind of plot. But Likable or not was so freaking draggy that I fast-forwarded about 90% of e show. I still could read e subtitles so I knew what was going on la. So that's why I managed to finish watching that 172 episode show within like 1-2 weeks.
and because I watched that show i have something to talk to my ah kors about. Today I even taught my 3rd ah kor over the phone how to watch that korean drama online. haha lol.
2) Cooking
I mentioned in my blog before about this.. and today I contributed some dishes for my family's dinner too.
Reason why I cooked these was so I could add wolfberries (go qi zi) inside. Those small sweet red herbs supposedly are good for eyesight & for hair fall problems, which is something I really need to do something about. =(
3) Friendship bands
Ok this maybe is not a very aunty thing to do, but its not a very common thing to do too. haha. I learnt how to make these bracelets a long time ago, then this holidays I thought of reembracing this hobby.

Currently I have stopped production coz I erm got engaged in other stuff & got lazy too. haha. hopefully before sch starts again i can complete a few more. =)

Murphy's Law
What happened as I was going for tuition today was a classic example of murphy's law.
First of all, I left church late, so I knew I'll definitely be late for tuition. Then when I boarded e bus I wanted to take out my phone to msg my tuitee, I realised my battery was flat. So there was no way to contact him. lol.
The next thing that happened was when I got off at e bus stop and started to walk to my tuitee's place, I got lost. hee ok this is quite embarressing given that I've been going to my tuitee's house for about a year alr. But let me defend myself!! Firstly, I've not walked from that particular busstop to my tuitee's house for a few months, and that distance is at least 15 mins walk lor, so it is understandable that I forget my directions. And more importantly, sengkang is like a maze! You see, sengkang mrt, interchange & compassvale mall is on this big square piece of land, which is surrounded on all 4 sides by hdb flats. And every side of that square looks exactly e same! No joke! e ppl who designed sengkang are really dumb lor.
Anw so from e busstop I geh kiang & thought I could take a short cut by walking through e hdb flats. I was so wrong. Once I entered e hdb flats I totally lost my sense of direction. So I walked in circles for a while until I finally walked out onto the main road. That's when I realised that I was on the wrong side of the square. lol. I guess I must have walked in e wrong direction from e start. hee. So I had to walk another long distance under the scorching sun. bleah.
ok at least I knew my way already... The next problem that came was I suddenly needed to shit. All e teh bing I had for lunch's fault. And I'm e kind of person that once I feel the urge to shit, I really need to shit soon. hahaha. So I had to make a detour & walk back to compassvale mall to do my business. lol.
And so I ended up 45 mins late. Actually considering all the complications that happened, I think 45 mins is not that bad already. hahaha.
And my tuitee wasn't angry. But I didn't expect him to be angry also la. He's e type of person whose emotions very subdued. I've never seen him get excited about anything, nor get irritated with anything. And he loves to say "anything", "nevermind", "ok". haha yar I think u get e picture...
